I found this post by Jeff Jarvis via the Reconciliation Blog and would like to make my own post election pledge. I will borrow from Jarvis and add my own. Jarvis wrote this back in 2004 for that election. It is good stuff and you should go check out his site.
So, my pledge... After the election results are in, I promise to:
- Support the President, even if I didn't vote for him.
- Criticize the President, even if I did vote for him.
- Pray daily for the President.
- Be civil in all discussions, no matter where they may be, that involve out President and politics in general.
- Unite with those from the other side, putting country over party, as we work together to make America better.
I wonder how many of you would join me is some sort of pledge of your own. A pledge that brings us together under whoever wins instead of driving us apart?
Similarly, Fred as posted 1 Corinthians 13 reworked for the election. Very nice. It's so easy to get so worked up over our own position that we forget how we should be treating others.
Thanks for the link. I'll take the pledge.
