I hadn't the pleasure of seeing this documentary until just now. I am watching it on A&E. I really really shouldn't watch this stuff. But it's like a train wreck and once I looked, I couldn't stop.
I know these people. So many like them live around me and they truly make Christianity and Jesus things they are not. It's maddening. No wonder so many people out there think that Evangelicals are coo-coo.
I can not understand why Evangelicals are so militant against the idea of global warming and conservation. This attitude of "it's all here for us to use up cause Jesus is coming back anyway" is asinine. This home school mom just made a whole lesson with her son about why global warming is not real and those who believe it are evolution advocates.
And when will we get it through our heads that tracts are not the best way in today's world to introduce people to Jesus.
And all of these poor kids who are turned into these weird robotic entities who sound about as authentic as my little son telling me he'd rather have broccoli than chocolate.
Oh, and seriously, the pledge to the Christian flag needs to go the way of the dodo. The pledge to the Bible needs to go as well.
And so far the show hasn't moved to the camp!!! This is all in suburban Kansas at this point.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, we are in South Dakota at the "Kids on Fire" camp. Interesting it's run by a female pastor. I am surprised evangelical families send their kids to such a place.
I will stop for now so this doesn't turn into a huge rant. But will post some thoughts about the camp if I find anything worth saying about it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For me the point is that we have such a distorted view of things in evangelicalism. I still have some of that in my own system. I mostly wish that we wouldn't oppose good causes simply because our "enemies" are on that side of things. You may disagree with "liberals" on lots of things, and that is fine. But nothing or no one says we have to oppose them on everything. It's no wonder they return the favor.
Oh my, they are rocking Carmen.
scary.
