Check this out and tell me what you think. Last year I posted about how I am opposed to Judgement Houses around Halloween. This is a whole new level. Here is the description of the the event.
LampLight Theatre transforms into Mortality Room to present, The Mark, a spine-tingling drama that depicts the truth about the of the end of days and the evil forces that currently abide. The ploys of Satan and his demons are uncovered as their evil schemes pave the way for the Antichrist to move into power. Torture and terror lie in wait for those who refuse "the mark". For those brave enough to endure, The Mark premieres Oct. 19-21 and will resume Oct. 26-31. Be warned, this drama begins the moment audience members step inside Mortality Room. Two performances will be held each evening at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Through special effects and illusions, the audience will be drawn into this twisted true-to life story. This frightening production promises to bring heart-pounding thrills with a terrifying after-death reality. Be advised that this new Halloween alternative is not for the weak at heart. The Mark is rated PG-13, due to the "true-to-life" situations, and is recommended for students younger than 13 to have permission from their parents to attend.
Wow. This from an organization who's tag line is Christian Arts and Entertainment for the Entire Family. I am quite sure there are many wonderful folks who are a part of this organization. However, this stuff really needs to cease to exist.
The head of this ministry, Billy Wayne, has a website and the graphic at the top says "What Good is the Gospel of Jesus Christ If It isn't Shared?" I ask "what good is it when all people can't come to hear it?"
That's it...scare the Hell out of them and then offer them a free ride to Heaven. That's worked so well in making disciples of Jesus...for the life of me I don't know why the church is shrinking in America.

Reading about this CRAP makes me want to ram my head through a brick wall. Seriously. Ridiculous, just ridiculous.
How often do we as Christians flat out fail to REALLY hear the concerns and questions of non-believers concerning faith? Do you think any non-believer wants to be scared to death in order to have their questions answered concerning Jesus and eternal life? I seriously doubt it.
The thing is this: this program will initially cause a few people to accept Christ, but I can assure you that it won't be because they came to the conclusion on their own terms. They might as well use cattle prods to herd new believers in...it would be the same concept in my opinion.
Sorry, just a little frustrated. I really wish I didn't let this stuff bother me like it does, but what are you going to do, ya know?

I do not think that they should have these kind of tactics to bring in new believers. I know of other ministries that use halloween to put on other dramas like this. As much as I do not agree with it at all, I simply pray that God uses it anyway for people to seek him with fervent prayer. It seems too much like glorifying halloween. I think people can understand the terror of hell without making it a terror drama.

All right, I know this was a post from a couple of years ago, but I think God led me to this website for a reason. My name is Augie Gil and I live in Tennessee. I have been to Mortality Room for several years and have taken part in it for two years. The way you represent this is an inaccurate and ignorant evaluation. First of all, we are not a Judgment House at Lamplight Theatre. We ARE a Family Christian Arts Center. While "hell houses" portray these scenes, in a "walk-through" fashion, Lamplight presents it as a production. We advertise it in a secular fashion to appeal to non-believers. However, we do present some "culture-sensitive" things to have a "real" approach. We show people that there IS a Hell, and of course, it's not a place anyone wants to go to. And, obviously, we try, to the best of our ability, to show them the Glory of God and what awaits those who trust in Him in Heaven. There are scenes in Mortality Room that are graphic, but if someone was murdered for their faith today, it wouldn't happen in a "theatrical fashion". The things we show in Mortality Room have happened to people and many of them are still happening. If the "sensitive" things we show such as murder, homosexuality, rape, and abortion are not touched upon by Christians, how will the world know these things are wrong. We try to show the reality and consequences of murder, rape, persecution, human distortion of morality.....sin.
What you, and many other people, don't know, is at the end of Mortality Room, Satan and his demons are judged and sent to the eternal Lake of Fire, as are the non-believers in the production. The believers are rewarded in Heaven. At the very end, Jesus comes back for his church, and a video plays challenging the audience "Are you ready?". The question refers to the Second Coming of Christ, which is what Lamplight Theatre is trying to prepare the audiences and world for. After the video an Invitation is held. Yes, we do "scare the hell out of people". Because, at Lamplight Theatre, we try to reach people in a variety of ways. Such as, Comedy shows, Dinner Theaters, and Variety Shows. One of the ways we appeal to different people is Mortality Room. In 2 Corinthians 5:11 it states: "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences".
Therefore, we try to reach people using different methods. Before you make another assessment like this, I suggest you do more homework. Billy Wayne is a fantastic Man of God, whom God has chosen to share the Gospel with others. Mortality Room is the number one show for "bringing in" salvations and re-dedications. We go through the Gospel with each and every one of the people who accept Christ as their Savior. All of them choose a personal relationship with Christ, because of what He did for them. And then, we send them Bible studies through the mail, and get them "plugged-in" to churches in the area. The Lamplight Theatre, over the past five years it has been opened, has brought over 5,500 people to the Lord, and has had even more re-dedications to Jesus Christ. In the Bible it says not to judge another's ministry if it is effective to Jesus Christ. Perhaps you would like to see the production this year. If you would like to come, I can get you a couple of free tickets. If you have any questions or would like to come to the show, please email me:
